CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Using a protective spray should be the very first thing you do when you receive your leather goods. All footwear and handbags, whether they are suede or leather, needs to be protected with synthetic (stay away from the oil based versions) water proofer before use. Rangiora Shoe Lines recommends Woly Combi Care Water Proofer Spray. Reapply protector every 3-4 weeks to keep the leather soft and resilient. Wear with Care Handbags and Footwear. NEVER overfill your handbag or evening bag, as this can put stress on seams, fastenings and straps and spoil the shape.

Please try hard to keep the load reasonable. Light leathers should be treated with extreme care denim and dye can (and probably will) rub off on to the leather with no easy way of removing. Ensure your denim is colour fast White Handbags are extremely sensitive to light, and the leather will turn yellow if it is exposed for too long to spotlights, fluorescent lamps or natural sunlight. Avoid handling your bag after applying foundation, perfume, body or hand creams, this will stain the leather. Do not place your Rangiora Shoe Lines bag on the floor, use a handbag hook. Any tough surfaces will possibly scratch the leather. Patent Leather can be rejuvenated with Vaseline. Use a soft cloth and gently apply a small amount to your product. Rub gently until surface is shiny. Wearing footwear and handbags often will inevitably result in rub marks, where the leather brushes against clothing etc. Rangiora Shoe Lines recommends you swap your bags often to avoid constant rubbing and wear on one bag. For stronger leathers (nappa or pull-up), protect, waterproof and moisturise with a product like Elephant Leather Preserver. Be sure to test any care products on a spot of the leather not easily visible e.g. Inside seam or pocket. Always apply cleaning and protective product to a soft cloth, not directly on the bag. Suede leather footwear and handbags should be regularly brushed with a soft suede brush. Minor stains and marks may be removed with a suede eraser. The leather should retain it’s colour and appearance if it is regularly treated with synthetic water proofer. These preparations make the leather water repellent, and in particular, impart grease and dust repellent. Suede that has been rain-marked should be allowed to dry naturally and then brushed up with a suede brush. For serious stains, it is best to see a professional. When storing suede, wrap leather handles or straps in cloth so they do not rest against the suede and leave blotches. Leather does not like water. Wipe off a wet leather handbag or footwear item immediately and let it air dry. Never use a blow dryer to dry a handbag or footwear item. If your bag has a chain handle, dirt may accumulate in the chain links causing it to come off on your shoulder. You can avoid this by cleaning the chain with a small tooth brush or the corner of a soft cloth. Always store the chain inside the bag to avoid any scratching or indentations on the leather. Keep fasteners and zips running smoothly by running pencil lead over the open teeth. Driving in heels may damage the heel and back of your shoe, so remove where possible to change into footwear designed for driving. Take your handbags and footwear out regularly and let them breathe to prevent any dust and mildew forming, they also like to be seen. A little TLC will ensure your goodies can be worn for longer.

WARRANTY & CARE - ABOUT OUR WARRANTY

Wear and tear on a pair of shoes is quite normal. We expect and design for ladies with busy lives involving a huge range of activities. This takes a natural toll on our footwear. It's also fair to say that ‘wear and tear’ is very subjective along with our own personal expectations on how long a product should last.

Footwear requires care if they are going to perform and wear the way they were intended. Rangiora Shoe Lines is not liable for shoes that show normal wear and tear over time (which is subjective but approximately one season 6 months). Scratches and abrasions are inevitable under routine use. Outsoles/soles support many times our own body weight and will wear down overtime (which is subjective but approximately one season 6 months).

FOOTWEAR CARE GUIDELINES

How a shoe wears will vary from person-to-person as well as from shoe-to-shoe and depends on intended product use. Factors such as the way you walk, weight, load and terrain have a dramatic effect on wear. Shoes such as our soft Sports Luxe styles that utilize climbing rubber are designed for specific conditions and will generally experience faster wear time than standard rubber outsoles, especially when worn daily for casual use on cement and carpet. All shoes will inevitably show wear and tear. This is not considered to be defective. Please note that carpet and cement wear rubber considerably faster than natural surfaces like wood and earth.

  • Of course, the first step is always the same: purchase shoes that fit properly.  This assures that shoes bend in the places designed to bend while providing the greatest support to feet. When shoes are not a correct fit, they are forced to bend in places not designed to bend and this accelerates breakdown and wear. So, first get the right shoes for your feet.

  • Prevent breakdown by alternating footwear. If your shoes normally last one year, buy a new pair when the first pair is 6 months old. By alternating, your feet will tell you when the older pair is worn out. If you've been wearing your shoes for a while, you can look at them to detect a wear pattern (usually visible in the sole and or stressed leather in the upper).

  • Shoe repair specialists recommend bringing your shoes in for a "check-up", about 3-4 months after you buy them. They can help you detect the wear pattern and determine if they need any preventive work to help them last longer.

  • Taking time to take care of your shoes will allow them to perform at their peak as long as possible. Here are some tips to extend the life of your shoes.

  • Consult your retailer and or shoe repairer for advice on creams to nourish the leathers, to clean the leather or to waterproof protect your leathers.

  • To remove dirt, stains etc., use a clean rag or fine bristle brush

  • Do not put shoes in the washing machine or dryer. Do not dip the shoes in water or rinse them under the tap.

  • If you completely wet the shoe, fill the shoe with dry paper and leave for 1 hour. Remove the paper and repeat until the shoe is completely dry.

  • Allow shoes to dry at room temperature overnight. DO NOT dry shoes near heat sources such as space heaters, open fires, or hair dryers, never directly in the sun.

Please see 'Cleaning Tips'  below for more details.

THINGS THAT VOID OUR WARRANTY

  • Any alterations such as heel taps or resoling

  • Material failure caused by excessive wear, unreasonable use, exposure to caustic chemicals, extreme heat, alterations, or abnormal wear related to occupation and or lifestyle.

  • Stitching or hardware failure due to being caught, hooked, snagged or other abnormal wearing accidents

  • Damages due to wear & tear may occur on the toe of the shoes (like scuffing of the top surface of leather thus removing colour and pattern) and increases of the leather or heels, resulting from how they are used. Such incidents of wear and tear are not typical for replacing or exchanging the product. Please note, these are 'worn' not defective

  • We are not liable for repairing shoes which show normal wear and tear, these are 'worn' not defective

  • Normal wear on soles or heels due to individual wear patterns, or heavy wear associated with occupation and or lifestyle, these are 'worn' not defective

  • Poor fit.

  • Fit issues that arise after the shoes have been used. Fit issues should be resolved before the shoes are worn. If you are in doubt about the fit of your new shoes, we suggest wearing them around the house for a few hours and / or bringing them back to your retailer for assessment (within 7 days of purchase).

  • Any damage incurred from washing machines or do-it-yourself repairs.

TIPS TO KEEP YOUR SHOES LOOKING THEIR BEST...

 CLEANING YOUR GORGEOUS SHOES:
